Motivation
By the processing of multi-materials with different compositions within one component, Functionally Graded Additive Manufacturing (FGAM) offers great potential for the demand-oriented design of additively manufactured products: By distributing different materials, the mechanical, thermal, chemical, magnetic and electrical properties of additively manufactured components can be adjusted with local resolution.
Objectives
The objective of this project is to develop a processing head for coaxial laser deposition welding using a combination of wire and powder to implement a corresponding process in which an alloy is produced in situ from the two filler materials. With the newly developed system, multi-materials (by material changes) and graded components (by varying process parameters) will be manufactured additively.
