IHK Research Transfer Prize in Gold for the Institute of Micro Production Technology (IMPT)

This year, the Heilbronn-Franken Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) awarded Würth Elektronik eiSos GmbH & Co.KG, Waldenburg, and the IMPT with its gold IHK Research Transfer Prize for their joint cooperation project "WLM - Production of Magnetic Components with Semiconductor Technology".

On 13 May, the IHK Heilbronn-Franken awarded the IHK Research Transfer Prize for the eighth time. A total of three outstanding cooperation projects between science and industry were awarded 20,000 euros.

The gold IHK Research Transfer Award, endowed with EUR 10,000, went to Dr.-Ing. Dragan Dinulovic of Würth Elektronik ei-Sos GmbH & Co. KG and Dr.-Ing. Marc Wurz, Institute of Micro Production Technology (IMPT) at Leibniz Universität Hannover. With the project "WLM - Production of magnetic components with semiconductor technology" they have developed a production technology for the manufacture of magnetic components such as coils and transformers in semiconductor technology. Their process is based on a thin-film process sequence for the production of miniaturized inductive components suitable for series production. This allows components with a size of 1.8 x 0.8 mm and smaller to be produced in large quantities and in a cost-effective manufacturing process.

Kirsten Hirschmann, Vice President of the Heilbronn-Franken Chamber of Industry and Commerce and member of the jury, congratulated the project partners on their success and particularly emphasized the market-ready technology development and the economic success potential.
