6 and 7 December 2017: Machining Innovation Conference - Summit meeting of international aerospace experts

The Machining Innovations Conference for Aerospace Industry (MIC) is an established event in the aerospace manufacturing industry. Once again this year, the Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) of Leibniz Universität Hannover invites you to the conference at the Hannover Centre for Production Technology. The majority of the event will be translated simultaneously.

Together with the "Machining Innovations Network e. V.", this conference has been continuously expanded and, in its 17th edition, offers around 200 international specialists and executives a platform for exchange in the fields of tool and machine tool construction as well as production planning in the aviation industry.

Prominent keynote speakers open both days

On both days, the technical and scientific lectures will be introduced by keynote speeches: Johannes Bußmann, the Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Technik AG, was recruited for the first day of the conference. The second day of the conference provides another highlight with a presentation by Ravi Sanjay, Microsoft''s worldwide Managing Director for the manufacturing industry. This is followed by Dr. Dominik Rohrmus from Labs Network Industrie 4.0 (LNI 4.0). Both will pose challenges and opportunities for increasingly digitized production.

On both days, the lectures will be held in two parallel sessions. The scientific session will highlight and discuss research trends on the conference''s thematic priorities. In addition to the results of German cutting-edge research, findings from all over the world are presented here. For example, scientists from Sweden, Slovakia and Japan are represented. Sponsorship of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) is a proof of its importance for the scientific community.

Industry trends

In the industrial session, current trends from the industry are presented and discussed. Participants can expect a status report from the Chinese machine tool industry by the CEO of Shenyang Machine Tool. This will be followed by a presentation by Premium AEROTEC on the subject of machining contract-welded aerospace components. The Managing Director of Ecoroll AG then gives an insight into the fields of application of solid and smooth rolling and how these processes promote the quality and service life of components. In the second half of the day there will be presentations by Walter Tools and ISCAR Germany GmbH, which will highlight the latest developments in tool technology.

The second day of the conference will focus on digitisation in manufacturing. Presentations by Dr. Koch, member of the Executive Board of OPEN MIND Technologies, and Sebastian Mergler, digitalization expert at Schaeffler Technologies, on the topics of production planning and process monitoring are planned. In addition, Stefan Walter from MSG Systems AG will present the possibilities of Smart Glasses in production.

The framework: trade exhibition - live demonstrations - an evening at Skylight Hannover Airport

The conference''s supporting programme also offers participants numerous opportunities for professional exchange and active networking. On the first day of the conference, live demonstrations of research results and projects will take place in the IFW''s test field. An accompanying trade exhibition in the foyer of the PZH offers interested companies an excellent opportunity to present their own products and services to an international trade audience.

As a highlight, the first day of the conference will conclude with a festive evening event at Skylight Hannover Airport.
