This year, as part of the Leibniz University of Hanover, students again had the opportunity to conduct research in exciting projects and gain experience in the fields of mathematics, science and technology during the Easter break.

The IFUM invited students from grades 4-6 to the campus in Garbsen to explore the world of mechanical engineering. Under professional guidance, the participants had the opportunity to make a jumping jack from various materials. Joining processes such as screwing, drilling or welding were used to join the materials steel, aluminium and plastic. In this way, the students were able to gain a practical insight into production technology and further their education in an inspiring learning environment. The event was rounded off with stamping and forging experiments, where the students were able to try out with their own hands what influence the temperature or the material has on the forming force required.

We look forward to further projects in collaboration with the Gauss-AG and hope to be able to inspire many young people for science and research in the future as well.
