New cobots for efficiency and flexibility: the introduction of the UR10e at the IFUM

As part of the continuous improvement of our work processes, two new collaborative robots (cobots) were put into service this year. The technologically advanced devices are designed to efficiently support employees in their daily work.

The two new cobots are capable of gripping and transporting different objects. Their flexible and user-friendly programmability ("teachabel") allows quick and uncomplicated configuration for a variety of tasks. These features allow automation and guarantee increased reproducibility of tests. It should also be mentioned that the cobots are not tied to a fixed location, which results in an expansion of their application possibilities.

The collaborative robot model UR10e has a payload capacity of 12.5 kg and a reach of 1,300 mm, making it particularly suitable for a wide range of applications.

The special feature of collaborative robots, such as the UR10e, is the ability to work directly with humans in their immediate environment. The design of these robots aims to prevent injuries to humans. Due to integrated sensors that recognise obstacles and cause the robot to switch off immediately, the installation of fences and other protective devices is not necessary. This results in increased safety and efficiency of co-operation between human and machine.

We are confident that the implementation of these new cobots will result in a significant optimisation of our work processes. Furthermore, improving the working conditions of employees is a key aspect, in addition to increasing efficiency.
