On 23rd April 2025, Hendrik Vogt gave his dissertation presentation at the Institute of Forming Technology and Machines (IFUM) with the title: “Process chain development for the production of load-adapted car body components from the copper-containing 7000 series aluminium alloy EN AW-7075”

In his research, he developed a process chain with which high-strength aluminium components can be specifically adapted to the respective loads - an important contribution to lightweight construction in car body construction. The key to success was a combination of forming in the W-state, a tailor-made heat treatment process and targeted quenching. This made it possible to create areas of varying strength and ductility within a single component.

Commitment and responsibility at IFUM

Hendrik Vogt worked at IFUM from 2015 to 2023, during which time he took on not only challenging scientific tasks, but also responsibilities within the team. As Group Leader Process Engineering and Head of the Hot Sheet Forming Competence Team, he supported many colleagues in their work and made a significant contribution to the development of the department.

For his research achievements, he has twice been awarded the EFB Project Award: a prize for outstanding research:

- 2019 for the project 'Insertion of functional elements in the hot forming of 22MnB5' (together with the LWF at the University of Paderborn)
- 2021 for the project 'Tailored tempering of 7xxx aluminium alloys', which is also the basis of his doctoral thesis.

The next step

Today, Hendrik Vogt works as a development engineer at Robert Bosch GmbH.

IFUM would like to congratulate Hendrik Vogt on his doctorate and thank him for the time spent together and the excellent cooperation!
