The Night of Mechanical Engineering

The Night of Mechanical Engineering

On 21 September 2024, the "Night of Mechanical Engineering" will once again take place at the Mechanical Engineering Campus in Garbsen. From 6 p.m. to midnight, interested visitors will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the various aspects of mechanical engineering free of charge and gain an insight into the technical processes behind it. All the institutes on campus, including the Hannover Centre for Production Technology (PZH), are taking part in this event and presenting their current research focuses.

Hands-on activities and technology experiences

A special feature of the event is the opportunity to get hands-on. At the Institute of Forming Technology and Machines (IFUM), visitors will have the opportunity to operate a coin minting machine and experience the force required to mint a coin first-hand. As part of this, participants will be given an insight into the material-related differences and the influence of different ratios. An impressive hot forging process will also be demonstrated. Colourful and impressive images can also be seen using an acoustic camera. Furthermore, sheet metal forming, another central topic of the IFUM, will be presented in a demonstration.

An experience for the whole family

People of all ages with an interest in technology are welcome at the "Night of Mechanical Engineering". Good public transport links ensure that the event is easy to reach.
