Development of hybrid material systems with sensor properties

Jahr:  2020
Förderung:  Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture

Projekt ID:7
Location:TU Clausthal (ISAF) sowie Laser Zentrum Hannover e. V. (LZH)

Motivation

Additive Manufacturing processes are becoming increasingly important regarding locally adapted material properties and functional integration. During the manufacturing process, inherent material properties can be specifically tailored to the respective area of application. Both the mechanical-technological and the physical properties of a component can be specifically modified.

Objectives

Within the PhD project a material with sensory properties as well as the necessary manufacturing process shall be developed. To accomplish this, various material systems will be systematically characterized and evaluated using advanced analytical methods. The aim is to make use of the ferromagnetic properties of materials, which change under load conditions, for sensoring. Aluminium-based materials with cobalt particles, titanium and nickel-based materials as well as duplex structures with different ferrite contents are to be created and characterized with regard to their permeabilities, saturation effects and the requirements placed on them.
